Jayne McIntyre

Jayne McIntyreJayne McIntyre is a writer and journalist living in Brisbane, Queensland.

She is currently working on The Sleep Swimmers: a story for nine to twelve year olds, which blends myth and reality in a storm-washed island setting. The ticking-clock narrative follows the story of Bravo Bray, a 12-year-old boy on the verge of a rite of passage where he will become a Sleep Swimmer; a guardian of the island. Yet Bravo has much more to worry about than reading the tides, sketching the stars, and deciphering animal prints, after a villager is attacked while on duty. The Sleep Swimmers offers magical realism with a nautical twist.

After studying journalism at the University of Queensland, Jayne went on to work as a journalist, editor, and corporate marketing and media officer. However, fantasy has always had her heart.

Having grown up on the Sunshine Coast, and lived on Fraser Island as a child, Jayne has an appreciation for the natural environment and likes to find magic in the everyday. An emerging voice on the children’s book scene, Jayne looks forward to introducing readers to her stories and worlds.

When she isn’t dreaming up characters or plotting her next twist, you will find her jogging, reading, or spending time with her husband and two children.
