Jenni Mitchell Studio Tours and Workshops
Students and art lovers are invited to visit Jenni Mitchell’s enchanting home and art studio, both of which she built herself in the 1980s.
The tour begins when group enters Jenni’s native garden, proceeding into the mudbrick house. Here, the students learn about the construction of the house and discuss the paintings featured on the rendered walls, many of which were painted by Jenni.
The group is then lead through the cottage garden to the detached working studio where Jenni explains how her equipment is used and discusses her current works in progress. On the upper floor of the studio, the students partake in an interactive picture-framing workshop.
Jenni’s partner, Mervyn Hannan, is a sculptor of note and his works are displayed around the garden and in the studio. Mervyn works with a variety of materials including Hebel block and found timbers. By prior arrangement, Mervyn is available to discuss his works and the intricate art of sculpture.
The tours are conducted in half-daily sessions, either in the morning or in the afternoon. The Heidi Gallery is a ten minute drive from Jenni’s studio and Montsalvat is just one minute away.
