Mokie and Bik - cover Too Much Stuff - cover

This month Wendy Orr's Mokie and Bik has been published by Allen & Unwin in Australia. From 15-18 September, Wendy will be speaking at the Sprung Literary Festival in Albany WA (see www.albanytourist.com.au for details) where she will be launching Mokie and Bik. The Victorian launch will be on October 10, with a session at the Hastings library in the morning, and at the Mornington library at 6:30 pm. These delightful twins live on a boat with Laddie the dog, Slow the sleepy tortle, and Ruby who sings all day. Dad is on his ship-at-sea, Mum is busy arting, so, underfoot or overbaord, the twins have twice as much fun as anyone else. Mokie and Bik will be published in the USA by Henry Holt in the northern Spring of 2007. Wendy is having a busy year, with the release of Across the Dark Sea, published by the National Museum, Canberra, in May and Too Much Stuff, a Penguin Nibble, in July. There was a launch for Too Much Stuff at St Monica's primary school in Kangaroo Flat (Bendigo, Victoria). It was a great success with a lot of excitement as the younger grades prepared 'Messy Bedrooms' or garage sales in their classes as preparation for the story. On the same day, at the same school there was also a Bendigo launch for Across the Dark Sea.

Alan Sunderland’s Octavius O'Malley and the Mystery of the Exploding Cheese was published in September by Harper Collins Australia and has already had good reviews in Magpies and Good Reading. It was also reviewed in the September edition of Magpies.
