Rod Myer
Non-Fiction Author and Poet
Rod Myer was born on a farm in North East Victoria in the mid 1950s and from the age of eight grew up in Melbourne.
After leaving school he lived for a few years in northern Australia working in mineral exploration and pastoral industry. Following completion of an Economics degree from Sydney University he worked as an electoral assistant and speech writer for the Australian Democrats then embarked on a career in journalism.
He has made radio documentaries for the ABC, Public Radio News and 3RRR and has written for The Age, The Sunday Age and The Herald. In recent years he has published two books, Living The Dream - The Story of Victor Smorgon, and an anthology of his own poetry called Prayers for a Modern Man.
His interests include history, the arts, politics and spiritually. He is currently working on a book exploring the relationships between fathers and sons and is writing business stories and profiles for The Age.
