Nan Bodsworth
Children’s Author
Nan is an award winning writer and illustrator of children’s books who completed her art training at Caulfield Technical School and the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology and her teacher training at Melbourne Teacher’s College.
She has written and illustrated four Picture Puffins including Mike’s Birthday Bulldozer, Mike’s Bulldozer and the Big Flood, Hello Kangaroo! and A Nice Walk in the Jungle. Hello Kangararoo! was published in the UK (1986) and US (1989) and Korean rights were sold in 2003. A Nice Walk in the Jungle was also published in the UK and the US in 1989 and was shortlisted in 1990 for the Children’s Book Council’s Picture Book of the Year Award, as well as being listed for several popular book awards. Nan has also illustrated books written by others: Bill the Inventor (Koala Books) and Princess Euphorbia (Addison Wesley Longman Supa Dooper).
Her latest book, a Penguin Aussie Bite, Peg Leg Meg was released in March 1999. It’s a rollicking good tale about a gutsy girl pirate. Nan has developed a proposal for a children’s television series based on Peg and her adventures. Producers interested in this should e-mail us.
